This is the final part of my Grand Hyatt Baha Mar review.  Part 1 covered the check-in and rooms.  Part 2 included all the activities – pools, casino, spa, etc.  This final part will review the Grand Hyatt club lounge and the dining options currently open.

Grand Hyatt Club Lounge

The club lounge was the highlight of our trip.  The lounge attendants really make the you feel special.  I would like to specifically mention Peter, Kirkwood, and Justin – they were really friendly and helpful throughout our many visits to the lounge.

It is located at the far end of the lobby level of the west tower.

After entering, to the right was a lounge area with couches and TVs.  This is were we waited since our room wasn’t ready when we arrived.

There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating also.

Refrigerators full of soda, juices, and water along with coffee machines.

I believe breakfast was available from 6:30am to 10:30am.  It consisted of two hot dishes (eggs, sausages, oatmeal, etc) each day along with fruit, pastries, meats, and the best yogurt parfait I’ve ever had.  Be sure to get it if you go, it’s AMAZINGLY GOOD!  While not a full breakfast buffet, it was certainly enough food for us for breakfast – so there was no need to spend any money on breakfast.

The club was open during the day, we grabbed a few cookies, soft drinks, and water bottles one day.  Cocktails and h’dourves begin at ~5:00pm.  There were also two hot dishes each night (salmon, shrimp kebabs, etc).  While breakfast was enough to fill us up, we usually had a few appetizers and cocktails each night before heading to a restaurant for a dinner.  This still saved us a bunch of money as we didn’t order appetizers at dinner and sometime shared an entree since we had the appetizers in the lounge.

I made good use of the bar area each evening with gin and tonics.

After about 8:00pm, desserts were made available.  The attendant brought us a plate of each type while we watched the lakeside fountain show one evening.

Bars and Lounges

There is no shortage of bars and lounges throughout the resort.  In addition to the many pool and casino bars, there are a few to point out.

If you don’t have club lounge access for breakfast, there is a cute french Cafe Madeleine in the west tower all the way at the end of the shops past the casino that serves breakfast pastries and some lunch items:

There is also a Starbucks in the east tower near the elevators to the rooms.

Restaurants

Baha Mar is currently advertising six restaurants open with a bunch more to open soon.  Three are located at the pool area:

Palms Cafe serves tropical and casual fare along with 12 different frozen cocktails.

El Jefe is a cute airstream food truck located next to the beach.  We ate lunch here one day.

Finally, Drift is the poolside service restaurant.  We tried a few items for lunch another day.

3 Tides

We tried each of the three ‘inside’ restaurants during our stay.  The first is ‘3 Tides’ which is the fanciest and able to be reserved on OpenTable.  It’s located down a spiral set of stairs in the west tower in the hallway before reaching the club lounge.

I thought the prices were reasonable for a resort like this.  The food was fine – nothing spectacular – I’ve certainly had better and worse.

Stix

The next night my daughter wanted to try to the noodle restaurant Stix that is located next to Starbucks.  It’s more casual and had authentic asian noodles – the head chef was Asian.

We weren’t super hungry as we were in the club lounge for a while, so we ended up sharing two different noodle dishes:

Both were very good and reasonably priced.

The Swimming Pig

The last night we ate at the 24 hour swimming pig english gastropub.  It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day and has 24 beers on tap.  This restaurant was the most lively.

This restaurant was fine also, the prices were reasonable and the food was fairly good.  I got the pub burger, my daughters shared a flat bread pizza which was a little small, and my wife got the BBQ short rib nachos which she sent back.  She had asked for the BBQ sauce to be on the side since she doesn’t like BBQ on nachos.  When it arrived the short ribs in the BBQ sauce were on the side so he couldn’t eat the short ribs and the nachos were mushy with no taste.  She ordered sliders as a replacement which were fairly good.

Final Thoughts

Having access to this wonderful lounge was one of the highlights of our trip.  The lounge attendants were AMAZING.  We saved money by eating breakfast in the lounge each morning which was very filling and good.  Stopping by the lounge in the evening also saved us a bunch of money on food and alcohol.   We were happy with the lunch selections throughout the resort.  Prices for dinner were not outrageous for a resort of this type, but the food was neither great or bad – just average.

We’ve been to Atlantis a few times before, but Baha Mar is our new favorite place on the island – we can’t wait to return!
