2020 – what can I say that hasn’t been said already – good riddance!

Surprisingly I ended up flying almost 35,000 miles on 17 flights – but most of that was on our second trip to the Maldives before Corona hit :-(.   I was also able to sneak in two trips at the end of the year for a little bit of sun – one was my first time ever in Aruba!

Here’s a look back at our 2020 adventures:

In January we headed back to the Maldives for the second time.  But this time we stayed at Hilton’s Conrad using points and free night certificates to stay in an overwater villa.  Hilton Diamond status (earned just by having the American Express Aspire card) was key and got us free breakfast, an awesome happy hour and even an upgrade to the most amazing overwater villa.

We flew business class both ways – on Etihad on the way there and Cathay Pacific on the way home.  We also got to take our first sea plane (from Male airport to Hilton Conrad Maldives).

After a quick trip to Florida for some sun and fun on Superbowl weekend, the girls and I head to Park City Utah for our annual ski trip.  This year we stayed at the Wyndham which was awesome – true ski in / ski out.  And snagged it for only $140/night by buying points instead of paying $750/night.

Next was a guys golf trip in March to Tampa Bay.  I got to play Copperhead – a PGA tour stop at the Innisbrook resort.  We got to play the course a couple weeks before the PGA tour event – all of the grandstands were being set up at the time – really neat.

Then COVID hit 🙁

Spring Break trip to Costa Rica – CANCELLED

Summer Trip to Hawaii – CANCELLED

Fall Trip to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights – CANCELLED

College Football Game Trips – CANCELLED

Vegas Trip – CANCELLED

We spent most of the summer at Dewey Beach in Delaware – enjoying the sand, sun, waves, and of course – skee ball!

Finally after months of being cooped up, my wife and I headed to Mexico for a weekend after Thanksgiving.  Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great – rain mostly.

And we ended the year with a family trip to Aruba to ring in the New Year.

I’ve got a lot planned for 2021 – including Bali, Indonesia and Costa Rica.   Keeping my fingers crossed that they don’t get cancelled again.
